A little bit about me…Dana May
I met the best guy ever in High School, we later married and had two of the best daughters ever!
I took a photography class in high school and fell in love right away! I loved every bit of it…of course back in those days we learned it old school. My first camera was a Nikon K1000 and it took 35mm film. After we took the photos we had to develop them in the dark room. I loved every bit of it. I took on photography as a hobby for years. I always had my camera, driving everybody crazy shooting pictures of them all the time. Of course, it was when I had my first daughter that I started really getting into portrait photography. I was always setting up different scenes to shoot with her. My love for photography grew even more from there. I started to take friends and families photographs all the time. Then one day the digital era happened. That was a whole new thing. We bought our first digital camera a Minolta Dimage. That camera was so fun but, it wasn’t long before I decided I was going to get into photography professionally. The whole digital thing seemed to make it easier! In 2004 I opened Digital Daydreams Photography. Besides the photography class in High School up to this point I would consider myself self- taught and I am pretty proud of that! I did eventually take the New York Institute of Photography course. I have shot just about every type of photograph. However, I would consider Landscape and natural light on site photography to be my favorite. I love getting into the out doors with my subject. I consider the clouds to be my giant soft box! That being said… In 2008 I changed my studio name to Splorin’ Photography. It just seemed to make sense because after all that is what I found myself doing with my clients. Splorin’!
Besides my Photography work I also…
worked for Walmart for almost 14 years. I have been a Girl scout leader since 2000. I also started up a Community Theater Group in 2005 The Sterling Miracle Players and the Haunted House, I worked part time with the RE 1-Valley Children’s Chorale until the budget cut my position and then I decided to just volunteer in that position in 2017 and I volunteer a lot for the High school music dept. my hobbies have always been cake decorating, sewing, crocheting scrapbooking and baking.
I can’t wait to meet and work with you!
